A special afternoon tea will be held next Friday at Felpham Methodist Church in Felpham Way for all those with memories of the holiday specials they would like to share.

Daily activities for children and young people will take place at the methodist church between 10am and noon.

Adult activities will be held at St Nicholas Church in Middleton.

Afternoons will see community and family events at the methodist church and on the beach at the end of Blakes Road. These include the traditional tide fight on August 7.

Building sandcastles to withstand the incoming waves will link those taking part in the latest holiday fun with those who joined in the first.

The Scripture Union Felpham Mission was started in 1918 by Edgar Walser. He was walking along the promenade and saw children playing on the beach. Jane Weaver, who helps to organise the current event, said: "He knew they needed to know Jesus and so began the Felpham CSSM Mission.

"CSSM (Children's Special Services Mission) became Scripture Union and the Felpham Mission is one of many that SU run around the country.

"Based now in local churches rather in the beach, we continue to share the vision of Edger Walser to share the good news of Jesus Christ."
