Felpham family's fury over battery-caged birds

A Felpham mother and her two daughters are raising awareness about the 40 million pheasants and partridges bred every year in battery cages, sheds and pens, for the game-hunting industry.

Amanda Waldron and her daughters have been handing out petitions at St Philip Howard Catholic School in Barnham to bring the issue to the attention of residents.

Amanda said: "I was absolutely appalled when I realised this was going on. These animals are being bred for rich members of the public to shoot.

"A ban is already in place in Holland. Hopefully one will happen in this country as well."
