Festival a success despite loss of live music

AROUND 300 faithful turned out to the scaled-down version of an annual Christian festival in Egerton Park.

EdgyFest, organised by Rother District Councillor (RDC) Michael Ensor, went ahead in glorious sunshine in Egerton Park. Hyms were sung and families enjoyed a picnic in the park before Reverend David Frost, on the last leg of a stint as chairman of Churches Together in Bexhill, led a Pentecostal Service.

Cllr Ensor, who had spoken of his disappointment when RDC licensing restrictions imposed in January forced live music off the festival agenda, said afterwards that all had enjoyed "a really good day".

"Everything went very well," he added. "During the lunch break picnic time we had a puppet show for the children (left) and a tug-of-war.

"All the activities were enjoyed, and the park was a beautiful setting for our picnic."
