Martin said: “I like, if I can, having a wander around the stands and seeing the cars and bikes, the old timers, all sorts of interesting things but it’s just lovely to get back in the cockpiut of a racing car. It makes me feel at home.”

Also at the event was Ken Block.

American star Block, best known as a rally star, was enjoying the atmosphere of the event.

He said: “It’s really fun for me; Ford takes care of me very well, Goodwood takes very good care of me. It’s nice to come here see all this amazing equipment, I get to drive my car and interact with a lot of the fans.

“Always, every time I come here, the biggest highlight for me is seeing the old group E rally cars. That’s something that’s very dear to my heart. That’s around the time that I really started to pay attention to rally as a kid so for me to come out and see those cars, see them run especially... some of them run very aggressively; that’s a very cool thing for me.”

Brundle, who has previously won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, added: “I saw the Porsche Le Mans car that’s parked next door to us; I fancy a go in that. One or two of the older McLarens... everything’s pretty fun. I even fancy a go on a bike.”
