Festival of Speed video: Sunday round-up

Today saw aerial displays by a Typhoon and the Red Arrows, stomach-flipping tricks in the GAS Arena and a host of timed runs with the winners announced at closing ceremony in front of Goodwood House.

Announcing the winners, Lord March said: “This year’s Festival of Speed has, I hope been another fabulous event and I really hope you have all enjoyed it.

“We are incredibly pleased and proud to have had such a remarkable weekend to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

“I would like to thank everyone involved, both behind the scenes at the forefront.”

Lord March then presented prizes to the winners of each class (see story below for all winners, times and vehicles) before calling a host of famous faces from the motorsport world to the stage.

They included Easy Rider star Peter Fonda, TT champion Ian Hutchinson, former Grand Prix motorcycle and road racer John Surtees and racing driver Derek Bell.

Two of the biggest cheers of the night, however, were reserved for Stirling Moss who Lord March described as ‘Britain’s greatest ever driver’ and 1996 Formula 1 champion Damon Hill.

The fastest overall time award was split between two drivers who both had a best run of 45.86.

They were Gregory Guilvert, in a Peugeot 208 T16, and Nick Heidfeld, in a Lola-Toyota B12/60.

The Vevue Clicquot award for the fastest female driver went to Annette Mason, driving her husband Nick’s Ferrari 250 GTO.

“It has only taken 20 years,” she joked as she collected her prize.

Other awards included the Goodwood Choice award with Ian King, the BMW Classic team and Kevin Grant all recognised.
