Festive fair at RAFA club

The Albatross club was full of cheer as members of the Royal Air Force Association did their bit for the Christmas fair.

Shoppers were queuing as the team arrived to set up and as a result Sandra Passfield's cake stall was sold out in practically record time.

"It has been wonderful," said Sandra.

"Everyone has been so generous and made such lovely unusual things for us to sell. For instance Eileen Slinn brought a great big tray of apricot slices, and date and walnut slices as well. We have had so much lovely stuff and there's a really good atmosphere...well it is Christmas, and this is like a little family really."

She was helped on the stall by Yvonne Hobbs who commented: "We have become quite close knit."

Branch chairman David Stevens said: "It has been fantastic. People have really come in and bought a lot, particularly books."

President Ken Igglesden added: "It has gone reasonably well..and there is a very pleasant atmosphere."
