Festive thanks to Littlehampton’s army of volunteers

Arun Volunteer Centre co-ordinator Derek Moore (pictured) would like to take this opportunity to wish all active and potential volunteers in Littlehampton and the surrounding areas a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

He says: “I know that many willing volunteers will be out there over the festive season, giving up their precious free time to help others less fortunate than themselves. On behalf of all those who will be receiving their help, I would like to say a big thank-you.”

Anyone who would like to join our community’s army of wonderful volunteers about the vacancies in this column, and others, should contact Derek, telephone 01903 731223, e-mail [email protected] or call in at the centre on the ground floor, Bradbury Centre, 1-5 St Martin’s Lane, Littlehampton, from 9am-4pm on Mondays and Thursdays and 9.30am-4.30pm on Wednesdays. Please bear in mind opening times will be affected by Christmas and New Year.

Cruse Bereavement Care, Worthing & District branch, needs more volunteers to join its team counselling people who have been bereaved, in their own home, and to offer social support and practical advice.

The Arun Sunshine Group is still looking for a couple of young people (minimum age 13) to work alongside existing adult volunteers, providing a regular break for carers with a befriending service and social programme for adults with a learning difficulty in their care.

Volunteers help with activities such as board games, computer games, cooking sessions, jigsaws, arts, crafts and trips to local pubs, etc., and to socialise with members.
