Festivities set to fill the Cat's Protection Centre

Santa is ready to drop in to Cats Protection's Winter Wonderland event, to spread Christmas cheer to all, next month.

On Sunday, December 2, the Cat’s Protection Centre in Lewes Road will be welcoming visitors for an afternoon of festive fun between 12pm and 2pm.

All of the younger visitors will be able to visit Santa in his grotto for a price of £3 per child.

However there will be a variety of other activities to suit the ages of all who will attend, including face painting, stalls, a festive raffle and entertainment from the Mid Sussex Choir.

All of the funds raised at the winter wonderland event will go towards the cost of running the cnetre and all that the team do to make even more of a difference to the protection of cats.

Entry to the centre is free but a donation of a tin of cat food would be an ideal early Christmas gift to help staff care for around 150 cats currently looking for new caring homes.

The festive fun will also mark the re-opening of the centre’s café and shop following a major refurbishment.

The recent refurbishment will now offer a range of gifts and treats and be the perfect place to stock up on Christmas goodies, while the new-look café will have a range of tempting cakes and light lunches available.

Cats Protection’s National Centre Deputy Manager, Tania Marsh, said: “Our Christmas event is a great day to get in the festive mood, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming visitors to the centre.

“Santa will be on hand to meet with our younger visitors, and will be leaving the reindeers at home so he can also spend a bit of time meeting the lovely cats in our care.

“As we enter the cold winter months, costs inevitably go up for the centre, so all funds raised on the day will help towards the cost of keeping cats warm and fed.”

As well as visiting the cats currently in the care of the centre, visitors can also meet Star, Holly and Twinkle, three donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary who live on the site.
