First Base and Patron Capital, owners of the former Amex House site on Edward Street, are inviting local residents to have their say on plans for the redevelopment of the site in their final drop-in session this evening.

The designs and materials for the proposed buildings set to replace the old Amex building will be unveiled, and developers said the new buildings will be between three and eight storeys – lower than the previous ‘Wedding Cake’ structure.

Lucinda Mitchell, project director at First Base, said: “We have been pleased by how engaged the community around Edward Street is. Over the course of our consultation events we have met a lot of people who have given us constructive feedback which we’ve been able to incorporate into our plans.

“This session is an opportunity for local people to see our plans before we submit them to the Council – and of course, give any feedback that they may have. We want to ensure that this development meets the needs, aspirations and ambitions of the local community, so all comments are very welcome.”

First Base and Patron Capital said they intend to submit their plans for the development to Brighton & Hove City Council in early February.

This final consultation event will be held from 5pm to 8pm, at Millwood Community Centre, Nelson Row, Kingswood Street, BN2 9QG.
