Final curtains for charitable Lyminister theatrical group

DEMOLITION workers brought down the final curtain on a drama group’s fund-raising exploits.

But members of the Thornlea Park theatrical group had one final act to perform after their social club was knocked down, leaving them with nowhere to rehearse or stage their money-spinning events for charity.

They took the proceeds from their last two shows at the Lyminster Road, Lyminster, mobile home site to Littlehampton’s lifeboat station, to donate to the RNLI.

Lifeboat crewman Olly Lamb-Cona and Tom Bezants accepted the £512 from the group’s director Mary Waldon, the proceeds coming from donations at the final shows, and from a sale of colourful costumes at the Silk Road restaurant in Littlehampton.

A spokeswoman for the RNLI praised the performers for their years of generous support, adding that it was sad the group was breaking up.
