Find out about water metering programme

Residents in Bexhill can find out about South East Water's customer metering programme at a drop in session on Thursday, February 25.

The company will be fitting meters for customers in the town and surrounding area, if one is not already installed when the programme arrives in the spring.

Oluseyi Onifade, South East Water’s metering manager said it could lead to lower bills for customers.

He said: “By moving to a water meter, customers will
have control over their water usage.

“Once we introduce the metered charge, like gas and electricity bills, customers only pay for what they use.

“And, if they use water wisely and don’t waste it, they could also see their water bills reduce.”

The programme began in Sussex five years ago and has been progressing through the county on a street by street basis.

By 2020, South East Water will have installed 375,000 water meters in total.

This will mean that almost 90 per cent of customers in its region will pay metered charges.

The drop in session is a chance to meet the team, find out more about the metering and financial help for customers who may have difficulty paying their bills.

The event will take place at Centre Stage, 87 London Road, Bexhill TN39 3LB.

All will be welcome to attend between 2pm and 5pm.
