A dozen trees were on show and all the windows at the church, in Cissbury Drive, were decorated, on the theme of Christmas carols.

Among them was a mission tree, made up of gifts collected for distribution to Worthing Churches Homeless Projects and the Marylebone Centre in London, which supports women.

The Rev Beverley Miles said: “Thanks to everyone who came to support us in our cold hour of need. We were delighted with the number of people who came.

“Many people provided musical entertainment during the weekend, namely Cliff Dormand, John Collins, Richard Elwood, Selina and John, Claire Wilson, Maggie Williams, Andy Tomlins and Sheila Davis.

“All the people and organisations who decorated trees and windows made the church look so amazing. ‘Magical’ was one of the comments I overheard.”
