Fingers crossed for Adur, Arun and Worthing finalists of community competition

MORE than 30 groups, organisations and charities from Adur, Arun, Horsham and Worthing have become finalists in the NatWest CommunityForce fund competition.

Groups nominated range from Scout groups to community transport to hospices.

All of the finalists are now campaigning for public votes in the hope of winning a prize of £6,000.

Voting will continue until Sunday, October 23, with the funding going to groups who receive the most votes.

Ali Noyce, NatWest’s local chief executive officer, said “CommunityForce has clearly captured the imagination of the local community and I am delighted to see so many nominations.

“Now, by letting people vote for the award winners we can ensure these funds go to the organisations they value the most.”

The organisations vying for votes in Adur are Beach Dreams, Your Space Your Time, Southlanders, Shoreham Fort, Electric Storm Youth Ltd and The Legacy Project.

In Arun, the groups are: LCT Homelink, Home-Start Arun, Girlguiding East Preston and Angmering, Arun Co-Ordinated Community Transport, Chestnut Tree House, Sussex Tornados Cheerleaders and Arun EXACT.

In the Horsham district, the 1140 (Steyning) Squadron Air Training Corps are hoping for public support.

In Worthing, the groups are: Ferring Country Centre, 2nd Northbrook Guides, 8th Worthing Sea Scout Group, Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, The Friends of Palatine School, Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre, St Barnabas House, Love Your Hospital, Worthing and District Stroke Club (KESTRO), The West Durrington Phoenix Youth Group, Guildbourne IT Workshop and Cortis Avenue Wildlife Garden.

County-wide groups bidding for votes include: Cool2Care West Sussex, West Sussex Woodturners, The West Sussex Rural Mobile Youth Trust, Outset Youth Action and Sussex 4x4 Response.

Votes can be cast online, by logging on to the website www.natwest.com/communityforce

More details about each group are also available on the website.

Three prizes of £6,000 will be available in the West Sussex area, excluding Shoreham and Southwick.

Shoreham and Southwick come under the Brighton area where a further three prizes are up for grabs.
