Firefighters battle Climping hotel basement blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from Littlehampton and Bognor Regis were called to battle a basement blaze at an hotel in Climping, yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 30).

Crews rushed to the Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa, in Climping Street, after a fire was reported in a tumble dryer in the complex’s laundry room, at around 3.18pm.

However, the blaze was out when firefighters arrived.

The team removed burnt clothing from the tumble dryer and damped it down outside.

Two fans were also used to clear smoke from the basement.

The incident is believed to have been accidental.
