Firefighters come to the rescue after St Leonards mum accidentally locks baby inside flat

Firefighters were called out to rescue a baby which became trapped inside a flat in St-Leonards-On-Sea this morning (Saturday, March 7).

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a crew was sent to Battle Road at around 9.45am.

A woman on a top-floor flat had accidentally locked herself out, the door slamming shut behind her, whilst her baby was still inside the property.

The fire service said its crew used a ladder to gain access to the flat through the window and opened the door so the baby's mum could get back in.
