Firefighters help free trapped driver

FIREFIGHTERS had to assist police and paramedics in freeing a driver trapped in a car after a four-vehicle collision.

The accident happened at the junction of Hillside Road with Bayencourt North and South on Sunday evening.

The emergency services worked for an hour at the scene.

The Vauxhall Corsa had gone under the back of a flat-bed truck. Two parked vans were also involved.

Firefighters had to put chocks under the wheels of the vehicles as a precaution against them rolling down the hill before work on freeing the driver could start.

The driver's injuries were said not to be serious.
