Firefighters tackle one acre grassland blaze in Mid Sussex village

Firefighters have tackled a blaze which set around an acre of grassland alight in Mid Sussex.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the fire, off Furzeland Way in Sayers Common, happened just after 3pm yesterday, July 14. It involved a field and nine outbuildings. A spokesman said crews from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Partridge Green and Storrington Fire Stations attended. In an update just after 6pm incident commander Joe Bullingham said the fire had been extinguished.
