Firefighters tackling 'well alight' tractor in Middleton-on-Sea - Fire affecting surrounding grassland

Firefighters are dealing with a fire involving a tractor in Middleton-on-Sea this afternoon (Monday, June 1).

According to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, crews from Bognor Regis and Littlehampton were called to the incident off Ancton Lane just before 4pm.

Two fire engines and two off-road vehicles were mobilised to the scene.

A fire service spokesperson said: "The tractor is well alight and affecting the surrounding grassland. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire using two hose reels.

"Residents living nearby are urged to keep their windows and doors closed for the time being.”

According to an eye-witness, the fire is 'raging' and black smoke has been seen as far as Felpham.
