Firefighters team up with youngsters for road safety

Eastbourne firefighters are joining forces with Eastbourne Youth Radio, Sussex Downs College and Shinewater Primary School to help make local roads and homes safer.

A special show will be broadcast at 4pm tomorrow (Wednesday November 19) involving Sussex Downs College, focusing on road safety, followed by a second show at 10am on 20 November involving Shinewater Primary School focused on fire safety.

Sussex Downs College will also host a Safe Drive Stay Alive session at its Lewes campus on November 20. It marks national Brake Road Safety Week, which is being held this week, until November 23.

Dave Sheppard, Eastbourne Borough Commander for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, said, “Eastbourne fire crews are delighted to be supporting this important initiative at what is a really important stage in the lives of these young people. Firefighters are ideally placed to raise awareness about the devastation of road crashes and casualties.”
