Firms from across Worthing and Adur celebrate at awards

The glitzy black tie event on Saturday (October 8) evening at the Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre saw the area’s brightest industry talents turn out in celebration of what has been an extremely busy year. Hundreds of guests attended the Herald-supported event, representing a broad cross-section of businesses that ensured a healthy level of competition right across the range of awards.

Despite a backdrop of testing economic times, firms were determined to party the night away and mark the Worthing and Adur areas’ achievements.

Compère Fred Dinenage praised the ceremony as “the most exciting” he’d yet experienced and believed there was a wealth of worthy winners.

He said: “It has been the most fantastic night and the third time I’ve been involved with them and I think these are probably the most moving and exciting so far.

“There have been some wonderful winners with stories of both achievement and sacrifice. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and for those who didn’t win, thanks for taking part and make sure that you come back next year.

“I think these awards are very important, especially at a time when the country is struggling a bit. So I’m delighted to have been here and pleased it went so well.”

The event was strongly supported by sponsors led by Spofforths and assisted by the Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which helped ensure the evening proved memorable.

The coveted Business of the Year category was claimed by Electronic Temperature Instruments.

Among the many winners on the night were Worthing Town Football Club, gaining the best charity or not for profit organisation.

Champagne corks were popped for Peter Saywell, whose lifetime achievement award announcement was greeted with roars of approval.
