First Brown Owl returns to celebrate Rustington Brownies’ birthday

RUSTINGTON’S 4th Brownie unit has celebrated its 40th birthday with a special meeting.

The Brownies entertained their leaders, parents and other Guiding leaders with songs, dance routines and music, followed by refreshments and a special birthday cake.

Among the guests was Marilyn Hillard, the newly-appointed district commissioner for Girlguiding Rustington, and Betty Ludlam, the Brown Owl who started 4th Rustington Brownies in April, 1973.

Betty cut the birthday cake with the current Brown Owl, Kahren Glossop, who has been running 4th Rustington Brownies for the past 25 years.
