First ever Goodwood food festival serves up a treat

The very first Goodwood Food Festival took place on Saturday and welcomed thousands of visitors in a celebration of food and farming.

The delicious food wasn’t the only tasty thing on offer – the festival coincided with the start of the flat racing season at the 
famous racecourse.

“We had just over 10,500 people attending​ the opening Saturday race meeting which was combined with an artisan food festival,” said James Crespi, general manager of the racecourse.

“The day saw top-quality racing and a selection of seasonal local produce on sale from the Goodwood Estate and other local suppliers.

“It was a fantastic atmosphere and the food festival was a great addition to the day.”

The festival offered a real taste of the flavours of Goodwood and Sussex, with local traders offering a mix of fabulous produce and dishes on the day.

The event showcased its finest produce on the day 
in the Home Farm marquee, offering a range of delicious Home Farm milkshakes, succulent Goodwood Farm lamb koftas and baked Goodwood Molecombe blue cheese.

There was also a number of bespoke stalls in the final furlong food market, where a selection of local artisan suppliers created a fusion of tastes and dishes for the day.

Local traders included Highdown Vineyard, Pinks Ice-cream, Mud Foods, Sussex Pigs Co, Farmers Choice Freerange Ltd, Burley Fudge and many more.

After sampling some delicious food, families then enjoyed a full card of horse races as the season got up and running.
