Plans have been submitted for the 5,800 sq ft former McDonald's site.

The Bognor High Street location attracted attention last month when it partially opened as The Tank - Europe’s smallest bar - having previously been vacant since November 2014.

Daniel Slade, the man behind the plan, exclusively told The Observer: “It is going from Europe’s smallest bar to Bognor’s biggest - bar, restaurant and entertainments venue.”

He has applied for a change of use, from Class A3 restaurant and cafe to Class A4 drinking establishment.

The result, Daniel hopes, will offer ‘something for all ages’ and draw on his industry experience for the likes of Wetherspoons, Greene King and helping to launch the town’s Mud Club.

He said: “I want people to walk in and say ‘wow, at last something nice, something that won’t be gone in six months’.

“I have been a Bognor boy all my life, I’m putting a lot of heart and soul and money into this. It is about giving back.”

“There will be coffee mornings, quirky things for kids on the weekends, somewhere you can take your partner or a group of friends or family. At different times of day, and on different days of the week, it will be different things.”

The refurbishment plans will, if approved, see The Tank make way for the new venue.

In the meantime it has been granted a temporary events license, ‘kicking off’ by showing the FA Cup on May 21.
