First Rox in the Park Easter day in Bognor Regis

The initial Rox in the Park family fun day will take place in the Bognor Regis beauty spot from 11am-5pm on April 11.

The day will be packed with free events and entertainment.

It’s all thanks to seven third-year events management students at the University of Chichester.

One of them, Nicola Blackman, said: “The day will be something for people to enjoy in the Easter holiday – and it’s for free which often isn’t the case nowadays.

“It will attract more people into the park. I know there are activities there already but we don’t think there’s enough.

“Ours should bring the community together because it’s for everyone.

“We also want people to come out from Butlin’s and cross the road into the park to see what is going on.”

The students have joined with the Rox music and arts organisation to stage the day. They have spent five months putting together a series of attractions.

These include a packed programme of performances on the park’s bandstand.

Guitar-based band Sally And The Pacemakers, and rockers Broken Teaset and Golden Boulder will be appearing.

The university A Cappella Angels singers will also delight the crowd, along with the 60-strong Downview Primary School choir.

Children’s entertainer Nick Clark will be strolling around the park to bring some fun on the move as well as performing a 30-minute stand-up routine on the bandstand.

There will also be four ten-minute story telling sessions by a librarian at Bognor Regis Library.

In addition, some 20 stalls will be selling goods such as arts and crafts.

Face painting and a make and take arts and crafts activity will provide further enjoyment along with an Easter trail and the Easter bunny.
