Fitness festival in memory of Uckfield butcher

Dan Osborne, 25, tragically died when his vehicle went out of control on an icy road near Horam in December 2014. He left a widow, Kayleigh and four week old baby girl, Sophie.

Dan was a health enthusiast and proceeds from the festival held at Isenhurst Health Club, Cross-in-Hand raises funds for the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance Trust. The ambulance attended the scene of Dan’s accident.

The day, which will be held on Saturday, August 13, starts with a ‘Pick it up, Put it down’ weightlifting and fitness competition organised by trainers Louis Chavannes and Ryan Smith. They will bring together 54 local people to undergo a Workout of the Day to test strength and physical endurance. Pairs (a man and woman) work together and the fastest couple to finish will be crowned 2016 champions.

Gates open at 6pm for the evening event when local band The Big Kahuna is headlining with the inhouse DJ providing the rest of the music. There will also be an auction of promises with all proceeds going to the air ambulance. Supporting the day will be Heathfield High Street’s Italian deli Cuculo selling Prosecco, strawberries and artisan Italian ice cream.

The Community Oven will be on site serving stone baked pizzas. Burritos will be available to eat too as well as a well-stocked licensed bar. Food and drink can be bought - once again proceeds to the charity.

Other firms involved include Heathfield’s Natwest Bank, Higher Nature, Wilderness PR, Printstation, Isenhurst Health Clubs and Strength Vitality.

Louis said: “The event is bigger and better than last year and we are humbled to be doing this again in Dan’s memory. We are hoping to top the £6K raised last year for charity. If local firms did not support us we couldn’t run the event which we hope to grow year on year. Tickets for evening gig from 6pm cost £10.

Buy them via the ‘Pick It Up Put It Down’ Facebook page or there will be some available on the night. The fitness event is free and runs from noon-6pm. There will be food and drink and plenty of children’s entertainment.
