Mr Vowles died last month following a battle with cancer.
His funeral procession made its way past the memorial, in Marine Parade, Worthing, pausing for a short while before carrying on to Worthing Crematorium.
The memorial was installed last year as a permanent reminder of the town’s link with Canadian soldiers stationed on the seafront in the wars.
