Five golden tickets to be won in Chichester and Bognor Regis

REMINISCENT of the children’s book Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, five golden tickets are hidden in bars of chocolate around Chichester and Bognor Regis.

The Give 4 BETH charity is getting ready for its summer fair in Chichester’s Priory Park on June 28 and excitement is mounting around five golden tickets that are yet to be discovered – and their eye-catching prizes.

Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop, in Chichester, The Sweet Jar, in Bognor Regis and Chichester, and the Six Villages Sports Centre, in Westergate, are all stocking the bars, created by the The Custom Confectionary Company.

“We rolled it out and it created some hype to begin with,” said Give 4 BETH founder Rich Sherwell.

“People couldn’t wait for them to arrive.”

He said the response so far had been ‘incredible’.

As of yet, none of the five tickets have been won, meaning a flatscreen television, a laptop, a bike, an iPad and a games console are all up for grabs.

“We’re running it right up until the day,” said Rich. Any bars not sold at that point will be brought to the fair and sold from there.

In 2011 Give 4 BETH was founded to help raise £40,000 for Bethany Chiddle, a four-year-old girl from Felpham, to undergo a life-changing selective dorsal rhizotomy operation in the USA.

Bethany was diagnosed at an early age with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and the operation would not only offer her the chance to walk unaided but also allow her to lead a more independent life as she grew older.

The charity has since helped raise money for other young children in similar circumstances, including Thomas Jenkinson with the Help Tom Toddle campaign and Toby Booker.

The charity has continued to go from strength to strength and is fast becoming more widely known in both the Chichester and surrounding West Sussex areas. As well as funding many local projects, Give 4 BETH is also building a support network for local families and children to share their experiences, knowledge and any questions they may have. The aim is to encourage their involvement in future projects.
