Five-star recognition in Pagham

A five-star experience awaits thousands of tourists in Pagham this year.

Church Farm Holiday Village has been awarded the ultimate accolade by Visit Britain for the first time. The tourism body upgraded its rating of the 200-acre site after a multi-million pound investment.

The recognition is complemented by Visit Britain's decision to honour the coastal location with its top Rose Award.

Holiday village general manager Andy Pope said: "This is really a fantastic achievement and is a great tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone who works at Church Farm.

"The holiday park could not be in a more stunning location overlooking a beautiful nature reserve and lagoon.

"These awards show we are achieving our aim and vision of creating an outstanding holiday experience for our guests and those who own holiday homes on our park."

The good news follows a 5.3m makeover of the Church Lane site.

Among the new developments are a modern 600-seater showroom, a waterfront boardwalk, a new outdoor children's play area and a bungee launch.

This work follows last year's major upgrade to the indoor and outdoor pools which included the addition of one of the biggest flumes on the south coast.

An extended range of leisure facilities is also being provided through links with Chichester Water Sports. All this is on top of a series of accolades for its care of the environment.

Church Farm was awarded silver in the Green Tourism Business Scheme which uses a 150 criteria to assess firms. It has also clinched nine David Bellamy gold conservation awards.

The holiday park, part of the Haven holiday company, is easily the biggest employer in Pagham with more than 150 members of staff.

They will be busy this year with first-time purchasers at an all-time high and 70 per cent increase in demand for ownership compared to last year.
