Five-year hair pledge comes to an end for Worthing woman

A woman who has not cut her hair for five years will soon donate 12 inches of it to be made into a wig for a cancer sufferer.

Michelle Caplin, 31, of Westland Avenue, Tarring is donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust. The Trust provide real hair wigs free of charge to girls and boys who have lost their hair from cancer treatment and other illnesses.

She said: “Hair is the pride and joy of some people. For them to go through something so terrible ... I just want raise as much awareness as possible.”

Each wig costs between £350 and £2000 to produce. Michelle is hoping to raise as much money as she can to try and pay for the cost of her wig.

Popstar , Jessie J, recently shaved off her hair for the same charity.

The wigs have to be made from real hair as synthetic hair irritates the children’s sensitive scalps.

Michelle said: “I’m so proud of everyone who’s sponsored me so far.”

Michelle will cut her hair on June 22. To donate visit www.justgiving.com/Michelle-Caplin
