Flag needed to show off Aldwick's national recognition

A FLAGPOLE is needed to show off the national recognition received by Marine Park Gardens in Aldwick.

The attractive seafront open space owned by Arun District Council has been awarded the Green Flag at the first attempt.

The garden’s formal layout, its attractive flower beds and ornate art deco-style shelters wowed the judges.

All that is needed now is a flagpole from which to proudly fly the award and Arun is deciding where best to locate it.

Helen Wilson, its senior community parks officer, said: “The Green Flag is extremely important.

“It is nationally coveted and shows excellence in parks which have good access and are well managed.”

Friends of Marine Park Gardens’ chairman David Garforth said: “It’s marvellous we have the gardens in this area.

“They finish off the seafront. You walk along from Bognor Regis and come across them and think they are fabulous.”
