FLETCHING ART GROUP: We are holding our spring exhibition tomorrow, Saturday, from 10am to 4pm in Fletching Village Hall. We will be joined this time by Fletching School who will be painting postcards. These will be drawn by tombola, each ticket winning an original artwork by the children. Our group proceeds to Fletching School. We will be serving tea, coffee and cakes. We will also be holding a Raffle, proceeds of which will go to the Scout Group. Come along, have a browse and a chat and refreshments. Look forward to seeing you.

CHROMATICS CHOIR: The choir rehearse on Monday at 7.45pm.

FLETCHING SINGERS: The singers meet on Tuesday at 7.45pm.

MARTIAL ARTS: Kobudo Martial Arts meet on Thursday at 5pm.

CONCERT: Fletching Singers Easter Concert takes place on Saturday March 25 at 7.30pm at St Margaret’s Church, Buxted with a performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.

100 YEARS AGO: Sussex Express 16 March 1917. Soldiers For Farm Work. According to present indications farmers in East Sussex will be able to rely during the present season on a certain amount of assistance from military helpers, whose services will be utilised to the best advantage under the superintendence of the War Agricultural Committee.

A batch of soldiers who had been released temporarily from military duty arrived at Lewes on Monday evening. They were engaged on agricultural work in the district during the week.
