'˜Flight' launches topic on Europe

YEAR six children at a Bognor Regis school took a '˜flight to Spain' to launch their new topic.

The ten and 11-year-olds at Nyewood CE Junior School, in Brent Road, are learning all about Europe.

Karen Smith, a higher level teaching assistant, said: “They were introduced to their topic by a flight to Spain.

“They had an horrendous journey with sickness due to bad turbulence and unfortunately engine failure!

“Luckily, they arrived safely and will spend two weeks ‘backpacking’.”

Meanwhile, year five is studying Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The children dressed as their favourite character from the book and actor Anthony Pedley, from A Taste of Dahl, talked to them about inspiration for writing.
