Bosham and Itchenor have been issued with flood warnings, and the Environment Agency said: “Waterfront properties particularly around Shore Road and the High Street in Bosham could be affected by the overnight high tide.

“High water levels coupled with a storm surge mean that there is a likelihood of property flooding occurring.

“The impacts are not expected to be widespread.

“It is recommended that any property protection measure you have are deployed before the high tide. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update this message as necessary.”

Emsworth and Langstone Harbour has also been issued with a warning and areas expected to flood include Mill Lane, High Street, and the Ship Inn pub, in Langstone, and South Street, and the A259 in Emsworth. The tide will weir over the Mill Pond at Emsworth.

The Environment Agency issued the warning for Thorney Island, Bosham, Bracklesham Bay, Selsey Bill, Elmer, Pagham, Sidlesham and Bognor at 3.30pm and said: “The overnight high tide levels coupled with a storm surge coming down the North Sea, means that there could be localised disruption in and around Chichester Harbour.

“There is a likelihood that some coastal roads could be inundated, particularly in the Bosham area and that some localised flooding could affect waterside properties. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update this message as necessary.”
