Flood warnings withdrawn

Officials are continuing to monitor river levels after they withdrew all flood warnings in West Sussex.

The Environment Agency is keeping an eye on water levels and weather forecasts to give communities as much warning as possible to prepare for any possible impact of flooding, with weather set to remain unsettled over the next few days.

The heaviest of the rain was predicted to hit West Sussex on Monday night, with showers throughout the rest of the week.

Flood risk managers are monitoring water levels and at the moment rivers appear to be coping with the heavy rain and flooding is not expected.

Regional director, Howard Davidson, said: "We are monitoring the rainfall and river flows very carefully and we have people out across the region in case of flooding. We are not expecting any flooding in the next couple of days, however we will continue to monitor the situation in case this changes.

"People should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding if a lot of rain falls in a short space of time."

Details of floodwarnings can be found on the Environment Agency's website www.environment-agency.gov.uk or by calling the floodline number on 08459 881188.
