FLOODING UPDATE: Part of A27 closed due to flooding in West Sussex

Part of the A27 remains closed after heavy rain caused flooding.

The A27 is closed eastbound at Chichester between Bognor Road Roundabout and Tangmere Roundabout, with diversions in place.

It is expected to remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday, February 12) after the heavy downpours.

The westbound carriageway was also closed this morning but was reopened earlier today, although there were long delays.

Stane Street at Westhampnett waspassable between Madgwick Lane and A285 junction after it was closed earlier today.

The A29 between Westergate and Shripney, which was closed earlier this morning, was also passable between B2233 Nyton Road and Rowan Way.

Other smaller roads were also closed due to localised flooding.

There were reports this morning some homes in Emsworth suffered from flooding and fire and rescue crews had to be called to pump out water.

The Environment Agency has just cancelled a flood warning for the River Ems at Westbourne, but a flood alert remains in place for the River Ems between Stoughton and Emsworth Harbour.
