Activists will be holding the event tomorrow (Saturday, March 18) on the beach opposite the Carlisle pub in Pelham Street, starting at 11am.

Fly Kites Not Drones was launched in 2014 by the Afghan Peace Volunteers, a group of young Afghans dedicated to advancing peace in their troubled country and across the world.

Maya Evans, who has visited Afghanistan to work with the Afghan Peace Volunteers on numerous occasions, said: “This global event draws together both the awareness of what it’s like to live under weaponised drones for many children around the world.”

Armed drones have been used in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen and elsewhere.
