Focus on Blake's Felpham stay

William Blake will be brought to life in Felpham tomorrow.

The famous poet, artist and visionary and his wife Catherine will be holding an at-home event.

Author Beryl Kingston will introduce the entertainment having written about Blake last year in The Gates of Paradise. Her book told the story of the three years Blake spent in Felpham, of his creativity during that spell from 1800 and his trial for sedition. Also speaking at tomorrow's occasion will be Heather Howell, who lives in Blakes Cottage, where Blake wrote Jerusalem and came to love and praise Felpham.

A chance to meet some of the individuals who would have been around during that period is also on offer.

The evening begins at 7pm at St Mary's Centre in Grassmere Close, Felpham.

It is one of the initial events being staged to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Blake's birth this November 28.

A new stained glass window is being designed to replace a plain glass window in St Mary's Church. This window will draw on Blake's work for inspiration. It is expected to cost between 10,000 and 12,000 and is being designed by Nicola Kantorowicz. It is hoped by the organisers of the anniversary celebrations to have the window in place by the birthday.
