A GROUP of artists in Northian and the surrounding villages have got together to create the Rother Art Trail.

It is all part of the South East Open Studoios project which sees 300 artists across Sussex and Kent opening their studios from June 1 - 17.

This is a circular route around the Rother Valley that takes in seven studios. They are - Terence Ayling, Vincent Matthews and Christine King in Northiam, Carol Mitchell in Peasmarsh, Glenys Griffiths in Ewhurst Green and Carmel Meade and Maggie McCormack in Sandhurst.

The work they will be exhibiting includes oil and watercolours, etching, collage, and textiles. If you haven’t visited an Open Studio before, why not go this year? The artists would love to see you and are happy to talk about their work with no pressure to buy. Most studios will have a range of art for sale starting with cards at a pound or two.

Those following the trail can look out for the distinctive red and yellow paint tube logo which will direct you to the studios.

SEOS guides, available from participating studios, local shops and pubs, will give you full details, including opening times, of all 300 artists taking part this year. www.seos-art.org
