Food for thought at regular lunch event

On the menu were carrot and courgette soup and a variety of sandwiches which like the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, managed to feed everyone.

Marilyn Quail whose brainchild it was to hold a lunch at the Book Exchange once a month, organised the event.

She commented that: “We are very lucky to have the support of the Co-op village shop who kindly donated the sandwich ingredients and a band of helpers who helped to prepare them. We weren’t expecting quite so many people so we had to recruit neighbours of the Jubilee Hall to lend us extra chairs and tables. It was a real team effort.”

Regular volunteers at the Book Exchange acted as waitresses and everyone who came to the lunch thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Among those who attended was Philomena Leech who helped to found the Book Exchange which has become a firm favourite in the village since its inception four years ago.

Every Wednesday the doors of the Jubilee Hall are opened for anyone who wants to browse the bookshelves, donate books or just have a coffee or tea and meet friends.
