Santa has been invited by Burgess Hill District Lions Club to have a grotto at Powell House opposite the United Reformed Church where youngsters will gather to create a nativity scene.

Michele Binks, who chairs the ‘Light-up Hassocks’ committee, said: “Every year we need to raise £5,000 to fund the lights and the switch-on event so please come along, enjoy yourselves and support your local traders and us.”

A village lottery will be launched next month to help towards funding costs. Forms are available in shops along Keymer Road and must be filled in by early December.
