Staff working in the Joint Community Rehabilitation Team based at Firwood House, Eastbourne, donated food to Eastbourne Foodbank on Christmas Eve.
Instead of sending Christmas cards the staff made food donations.
Serene Russell, the team’s clinical lead said, “Staff wanted to do something different this year. So rather than giving Christmas cards we donated food. We presented the food to Eastbourne Foodbank on Christmas Eve and were surprised by the size of the operation. It is certainly meeting a big need in the town.”
The Joint Community Rehabilitation Team is an integrated community service between Adult Social Care and East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The team provides a seven day a week rehabilitation and re-enablement service to adults 18 years or over in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford areas. Eastbourne Foodbank feeds around 700 people a month in Eastbourne, seeing around 20-25 a day.
