Football fan meets his England heroes

Kurt Gibbs, from Harvesters, won the chance to train at England’s new headquarters at St George’s Park and did a run out at Wembley as part of a competition organised by team sponsor Vauxhall.

Over the two days he took part in a coaching session with current England coach and former right back Gary Neville.

The winners travelled to Wembley on the England team bus and got to play in a game on the hallowed turf.

The teams were captained by Graeme Le Saux and Steve Claridge, managed by Ray Wilkins and England Under 21 manager Stuart Pearce. Overseeing the match was World Cup final referee Howard Webb.

Kurt said: “To be coached by Gary Neville and then managed by Stuart Pearce and Ray Wilkins – all England heroes – was a real surprise.

“We have had an access all areas pass to what life is like inside the England camp and the facilities at St George’s Park are phenomenal.

“And running out at Wembley is something I will never forget – it really has been two days that every football fan dreams of.”

Stuart Pearce commented: “The players have been fantastic. You can’t describe the feeling you have when you run out of the tunnel at Wembley and I am sure they will all remember this day for the rest of their lives.”
