Footpath work at Steyning

STEPS and a handrail were replaced by West Sussex County Council and the South Downs National Park Voluntary Rangers on a popular footpath off Mouse Lane, Steyning, opposite Charlton Farm, last Sunday April 3.

Eleven steps and the handrail were replaced after local people reported problems with them, and a redundant stile removed to improve access.

The County Council’s Rights of Way Volunteer Coordinator, Darren Rolfe, worked with the South Downs National Park Volunteer Rangers on the task – the first time since the official creation of the National Park on Friday April 1.

The new partnership will see increased local involvement in Rights of Way maintenance.

Another task day is booked for Sunday June 5. For further details contact Darren Rolfe on 07793 187893 or e-mail [email protected].
