Ford Prison riot - update
THE riot by Ford Prison inmates today (New Year's Day) is thought to have been triggered by attempts to breathalyse them to check for contraband alcohol.
Fires have wrecked six accommodation blocks, a snooker room, a pool room, a gym block and a mail room.
Several dozen prisoners will be transferred to other prisons because of the loss of buildings.
Specialist police units have worked with prison staff to restore order.
