Foster care boss attempts to quell residents’ fears

A FOSTER care provider has moved to allay fears that troubled teenage residents of a proposed new residential home will pose a threat to the neighbouring community.

Families Fostering has submitted a planning application to the South Downs National Park Authority to change the use of its offices in Findon Road, Findon Valley, from non-residential to residential.

The group, which is part of the Compass Community – a provider of fostering and residential services across England and Wales –wants to provide residential accommodation for nine teenagers at its Findon Valley site.

However, neighbouring residents and businesses have expressed concern at the proposal.

Concerns that teenage boys with problematic sexual behaviour (PBS) will reside at the site has prompted many residents to submit letters of objection.
