Four day Jubilee beer festival

A FOUR day beer festival will be held at the Rose and Crown to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

A range of 15 ales will be on offer, but beer is not the only attraction of the long weekend. Landlords Stephen and Sarah Newman have invited bands and singers to provide the entertainment.

Band of Two will play on Saturday night, Sean Curtis on Sunday, the Flying Teapots on Monday and Abandon on Tuesday.

There will be raffles throughout the four days with proceeds being donated to Bexhill carnival. A patriotic jubilee party is planned for bank holiday Monday.

Steve said: "We chose to join in with the celebrations of jubilee weekend as it is also an opportunity to celebrate local ales. We are trying to encourage people to do something for the jubilee. We should be celebrating such a significant event."

Games will be organised for children and adults, with special attractions to be announced in the near future.

CHILDREN from The Young Sussex Nursery School will be taken on a trip down memory lane for the Queen's Jubilee Celebration.

Before their main Jubilee Party on Friday, May 31, one of the nursery's regular visitors Mrs Grace Dean will recall her memories of the Queen's Coronation, on Wednesday, May 29.

Mrs Dean is a long-standing friend of the nursery and is much loved by the children and staff. She comes once a week for music sessions with the children, accompanying them on the piano.

For the Jubilee celebrations Mrs Dean has helped the staff to teach the children some of the old sing-a-long tunes and the National Anthem.
