Four held in East Preston after Angmering robbery

FOUR suspects were arrested within half an hour of a robbery in Angmering this morning (Friday, August 13).

A 20-year-old woman from Angmering was walking along Station Road just after 6am, on her way to work, when a Vauxhall Vectra saloon, with several people inside, drew up.

At least one of them got out, pushed the woman to the ground and snatched her bag, containing credit cards, cash and an mp3 player.

The victim suffered minor bruising and was badly shaken, but did not need hospital treatment.

Bag recovered

Police were quickly on the scene and after searching the area, officers went to an address at East Preston, where four people were arrested. The bag and contents were recovered and a car believed to have been used in the crime was found in the same street where the arrests took place.

Those arrested were a 21-year old man, two boys aged 15 and 16, and a 31-year old woman. They are all in custody for interview today.

Det Sgt Simon Smith said: "We are still keen to hear from anyone who was in Station Rod this morning and saw what happened. In particular, some early morning travellers will have been in the area on their way to Angmering railway station and they may be able to help."
