Four vehicle collision in Wilmington - four people in hospital

FOUR PEOPLE were rushed to hospital after a four-vehicle collision on the A27 at Wilmington near Polegate.

The collision happened on the Eastbourne side of the road at 3.30pm on Monday, December 12.

It involved a Vauxhall Movano, a Vauxhall Insignia and two (separate) Renault Kangoos.

Two men, a driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles were taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital with minor injuries.

One of the men was freed by firefighters using specialised cutting equipment. The fire crews came from Hailsham and Eastbourne.

No one else was injured. The road was closed at the Polegate crossroads and re-opened around 6pm that day.
