Free activities with rangers

Play rangers are bringing summer fun to a North Bersted estate this summer.

The two rangers will be providing challenging and enjoyable activities for free on the Trees Estate from August 6.

Their first session on the Stoneage Close open space at the estate will take place from 2.30pm.

Den building, environmental play, arts and crafts and junk modelling will be available.

Any child aged between five and 16 can take part.

Those from five to seven must be accompanied by an adult.

The play scheme is the first project of its kind in West Sussex. It is being run by Arun District Council with finance from the Big Lottery Fund.

Senior play ranger Jason Ward said: "We will provide and promote play opportunities that are inclusive for all children and young people whatever their abilities."

Activities will continue whatever the weather.

"Sensible clothing and footwear is essential."
