Free cookery courses in Adur and Worthing

YOUNGSTERS who want to learn to cook and parents who want to solve meal-time headaches are invited to join free cookery sessions.

Cook with Confidence is a free six-week course aimed at individuals, parents and carers in Adur and Worthing, in a bid to encourage people to cook more often and help them create delicious meals and snacks from scratch.

The course, starting on Wednesday, January 13, from 10am to 12pm, at St Peter’s Church, Bowness Avenue, Sompting, includes free ingredients and tasty recipes.

Participants will cook and eat together at each session, with an option to take home extra portions.

Course leader Karen Dennison said: “Cooking for a family can be a nightmare, especially on a limited budget, but our sessions get children and adults having fun in the kitchen and creating delicious, healthy family meals.

“If you want to learn how to cook healthily and on a budget then start 2016 with our practical course. Many people have never been shown how to cook a meal from scratch, so we teach them in hands-on, fun cooking sessions.”

There will aso be a free family activity session at Maybridge Children and Family Centre, The Strand, Durrington, from 11am to 1pm on February 15.

Run by social enterprise company Health Champions, it is open to parents, carers, grandparents and children living in Adur and Worthing and Adur, to encourage children to try new foods and offer hands-on help for creating easy, low-cost and healthy meals.

The courses are run in conjunction with Adur and Worthing Wellbeing to teach cookery skills, confidence in the kitchen, budgeting for healthy meals healthy meal ideas and how to adapt traditional recipes to make them healthier.
